Marriage, Divorce, and Singleness 1 Corinthians 7 2/22/2026 There were 4 different types of marriage under Roman law: Purity, Partnership, and Pleasure Verses 1-4 Protection V5 Marital Truth: Stop depriving your spouse of what is rightfully theirs! Celibacy is a spiritual gift Verses 6-7 (Matthew 19:12)>br> The Unmarried and Widows Verses 8-9 (1 Timothy 5:3-16) Married People Verses 10-16 (Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:4-6; Malachi 2:14-16) Marital Truth: Working through the problems, not walking out, is God’s way. Truths from the Text: God still hates divorce. Anyone calling themselves a Christian should never seek to divorce their spouse. Now about Virgins Verses 25-38 The time is limited – (Ephesians 5:14-17) Marriage is a life-long commitment. Marriage should not be entered into lightly.
