| Still babies after all these years 1 Corinthians 3:1-4 11/16/2025 Timeless Truth: Spiritual immaturity is always primarily of our own doing. I am responsible for my own spiritual health. The World and the Flesh The influence of the world and the desires of the flesh are the two things which most often hinder our spiritual growth and health. Worldliness is an orientation, a way of thinking and believing, which leads to a way of living. Our Flesh is the conduit that the world uses to reach us. Timeless Truth: One sin always leads to another. A Christian’s life is not to be characterized by ongoing sinfulness. “forgetful hearers” (James 1:25) Milk vs Solid Food Our level of maturity is often displayed by our diet. The difference between spiritual milk and solid food is a matter of depth and detail. Envy, Strife and Divisions Envy is the attitude and strife is the action that results from it. Envy is at the heart of covetousness, which we are commanded not to do in Exodus 20:17. Envy and strife are like a cancer. The Cure for Immaturity (Galatians 5:16-26) Our spiritual condition is all a matter of choices that we make on a daily basis. We have to choose to decrease the time we spend in and around the things of the world; and to increase the time we spend in the Word and prayer. |
