| The Beginning of Jesus Ministry Luke 4:14-44 7/12/2026 Ministering in His hometown (Luke 4:14-30) (John 1:19–4:45) It was our Lord’s custom to attend public worship, v16; a custom faithful followers should imitate today (Hebrews 10:24–25) (Deuteronomy 6:4–9) (Isaiah 61:1–2) The Year of Jubilee (Leviticus 25) God has always desired for His people to be free from the bondage of slavery and sin. (John 8:36) (1 Kings 17:8–16; 2 Kings 5:1–15) Timeless Truth: Racial prejudice is a sin against God! Driving out Demons and Diseases (Luke 4:31–44) (Matthew 4:13–16) Why would a demonized man attend the synagogue? Just as Satan knew who Jesus was, the demons knew that Jesus is the Son of God (Luke 4:34, 41). Peter’s mother-in-law The Lord must have been tired after such a demanding day, and yet He was up early the next morning to pray (v42; Mark 1:35). It was in prayer that He found His strength and power for continued service, and we should follow His example. We are called to share the good news of the Gospel of Jesus’ death on the cross for our sins, His burial, and His resurrection from the dead. There is no more important work that we can be involved in, in this lifetime! (1 Corinthians 11:26) |
